Financials Upgrade 8.8
The State Accounting Office (SAO) and Accenture Services have joined together to upgrade the State of Georgia’s Financials application from version 7.02 to version 8.8. The scope of the Financials Upgrade project includes the upgrade to PeopleSoft Financials system to Release 8.8, the upgrade of the system architecture and the inclusion of certain functions that support the State Accounting Office’s mission and objectives.
Business Drivers

The current release of PeopleSoft is unsupported which presents a risk in being able to provide continuity of operations for statewide and agency financial processes for agencies using the PeopleSoft Financial systems.

The creation of the State Accounting Office which will look to improve financial and accounting practices for the State. This will require a financial system to support compliance with standards, policies and practices and to provide efficiencies in the operations of a statewide financial management system.
The three business objectives for the Financials Upgrade project are to:

Upgrade the current functionality to a supported PeopleSoft release.

Establish a technical foundation that will provide continuity of existing services efficiencies in support and the flexibility to provide new or improved functionality where appropriate.

Enhanced functionality that represents best practices for the State of Georgia including inter/intra-business unit transactions, statewide consolidated reporting and three way matching.
