Governance
Project funds are administered by the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) through the Technology Empowerment Fund. The General Assembly created this unique mechanism in law (OCGA § 50-25-7.1) to fund select technology projects to improve the state’s service delivery while ensuring proper oversight and accountability for the projects. Oversight of the funds is provided through a steering committee consisting of the chairs of both the Senate and House Appropriation committees and representatives from the House and Senate budget offices as well as the state auditor.
At the project level, the governance structure is led by the State Accounting Officer, DOAS Commissioner and a representative from the OPB. GTA provides project oversight.
The following diagram depicts the project governance structure for the NextGen project.
