June 2023 NextGen Newsletter

The NextGen Project aims to modernize the state’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system by replacing PeopleSoft Financials and Human Capital Management with a new cloud-based solution that will propel Georgia government into the forefront of technology and change the way we do business. What's New

The NextGen Project Team has been working closely with Workday, Georgia’s new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system software supplier, to establish a strategic plan for the new fiscal year. The team has also been focusing on how to engage with the System Implementer (SI) to be selected and onboarded later this summer, along with setting up some of the baseline metrics that will measure the growth and success of the new ERP system. More details on those plans will be available in the coming months.

In addition to getting things off the ground with Workday, the Project Team is expanding communication channels. The team has been reaching out to established Points of Contact (POCs), Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) throughout the enterprise to validate names and resources to ensure we have the connections needed as we near Phase 2 – the Implementation Phase. If you are aware of any changes in these roles in your organization, please let us know at [email protected]

What's Next

In the next couple of months, several activities are planned to gear up for the Implementation Phase. We will be hosting and speaking at several meetings and events to spread the word about NextGen’s progress and what we will need when the SI is integrated into the Project Team.

The new ERP system will serve 200+ agencies and organizations, 60,000 suppliers, and 75,000 employees who make up the State of Georgia workforce. With that in mind, we need input from across the enterprise. We want you to be part of the NextGen project – part of creating the State’s future business landscape. Please stay involved throughout the lifecycle of this project by attending meetings and events and reading our latest newsletters and resources on the NextGen website.
