What's New

Following the Implementation Kickoff in December, the project team is diving into Discovery Sessions and Foundation Data Model (FDM) Design Sessions this month with Deloitte, the NextGen implementation partner. These sessions include input from business experts across the state enterprise.

The NextGen Project Team has also been working with Deloitte to further establish project governance. Kickoff Meetings have initiated the Steering Committees & Quality Review Teams and the Executive Council.

The Steering Committees & Quality Review Teams will provide review and approval for outputs from the project’s 30+ workstreams. Their oversight will include sharing institutional expertise and guidance during configuration of the Workday system, reviewing mitigation strategies and prioritizing or escalating any identified issues.

The Executive Council will serve as the review and approval team for items presented by the Steering Committees & Quality Review Teams. The Council will ensure project workstreams are aligned with state business objectives, review and approve project deliverables and escalate any policy change requests.

What's Next

Following the Discovery Sessions and FDM Design Sessions, common Design Sessions will begin in February. Design Sessions will be centered around:

  • Conducting demos
  • Introducing the configuration workbook
  • Discussing workstream functionality

In the coming months, the Project Team will also work on Integrations Discovery & Design Sessions as well as Data Mapping Sessions.

The Project Team has been working diligently to get all of the project resources up to speed on basic system training ahead of their involvement in the Discovery and Design Sessions. Many team members attended Workday training courses, which covered various Workday topics via in-person sessions, virtual classes and self-guided learning. The NextGen Project Team also hosted Core Concepts training, which provided a high-level overview of the Workday system.
